Mobile Internet: How to stay connected anywhere

Love your mobile Internet? We are here to give you tips how to get the most out of your mobile Internet and stay connected anywhere!

Did you know your mobile devices (laptop and cellular phone) could give you any Internet connection from anywhere? Here are a few methods how:

Do not rely on one network for your mobile Internet access. If you must always have available Internet access, do not limit yourself to one cellular network. You can research coverage maps to choose devices from different carriers to increase your chances of getting a good connection, such as Sprint’s coverage map.

Know what your signal bars mean. Having five bars on your mobile broadband signal does not mean you have the best data speeds. Your data speed can be affected in crowded areas of cellular-network traffic. Your bar signal strength tells you how strong your connection is to the nearest signal tower. However, it does not tell you how busy that tower may or may not be. You can contact your mobile provider to find information on towers in your area.

Bring your own Wi-Fi router. If you are on a business trip or vacation, you should bring your own Wi-Fi router. Most hotels advertise that their free in-room Wi-Fi will always do wonders for you. This does not guarantee that it will meet your needs based on your workload or Internet rumoring preferences. If you bring your own Wi-Fi router, we insist that your room be wired for Ethernet and make sure you bring your power strip to not jeopardize your wireless Internet access for room lighting.

Test your speed prior to uploading huge files. Sometimes a mobile ISP or hotel IT administrator might throttle certain services. You might confront issues with your company’s FTP server assuming that direct file-transfer will be the fastest method. Some intermediary issues can be VPN connections that can reduce overall speed.
