How Often Should You Clean Your Computer?

General Cleaning Tips

Never put liquid onto your computer. If you need to spray a liquid, put it on a cloth and use the cloth to rub down the computer. Next, use a vacuum to suck up dust and debris. Never use a vacuum on the inside of your computer. This is very dangerous to do because static electricity flows through your computer. A vacuum could damage the internal components of your computer. If you need to use a vacuum, use a portable battery powered vacuum.  Always turn off your computer before cleaning. When cleaning your computer fan, make sure you have something holding it in place so it will not move while you are cleaning.

Cleaning Tools

Here are a few cleaning tools to properly clean your computer:

Cloth. Use it to rub down safely your computer components.

Water or Rubbing Alcohol. These two solvents are safe to use on computers if applied with a cloth. Do not use too much on the plastics used on your computer.

Cotton Swabs. Use cotton swabs with rubbing alcohol or water to clean hard to reach areas such as the keyboard and mouse. Do not forget to use lint-free cotton swabs.
