New World of 2D Codes

   In this case, the code here will download my contact informaton to your phone automatically!  The catch here is that you have to use the ScanLife application to get the content.  This is easily downloaded by simply texting the word “scan” to 43588 or visit www.scanlife.com on your phone browser.  Install the small application on your phone and scan the code!

There are addtional formats such as "QR Codes" and "Datamatrix" but they are all based on the ability to store up to 64k of data within th two-dimentional square format barcode!

The main thing to be aware of is compatibility - ScanLife is the most commonly pre-loaded scanner on phones in the United States and their free download supports ALL 2D formats as well as ALL brands of phones.  For business owners ScanLife offers the added ability of tracking the number of clicks on a specific image for marketing information and supports additional tasks such as creating a SMS, Email, Twitter, or other message just by "scanning" the code.
