CEOSteve Plumlee, CEO of Certified CIO, is an 18 year veteran of the IT industry. He purchased Certified CIO and became CEO in 2004. Since then he has steadily grown the business through satisfied clients recommending Certified CIO to their associates. He has worked as Director of IT for Chesapeake Research Review where he supervised implementation of new HIPAA regulations. He has also founded startups in custom IT services, strategic consulting and team management.
Steve graduated from Penn State University and is certified as an MCP, Microsoft Small Business Specialist, and also holds an A+ and CEHv8 certification. His personal expertise includes:

Human Resources & Finance ManagerCarey is the behind-the-scenes backbone of Certified CIO. Her role is to ensure all of the billing is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Carey also provides administrative support to the team so they can focus on supporting you.
Sales ManagerOver his career, Chris has built relationships with customers in the Human Resources, Arts & Crafts and Automotive industries as well many local Baltimore area businesses. Chris’ attention to detail, networking efforts and tireless advocacy for his clients makes him a valued asset to your business. He serves as a steward from introduction to service fulfillment and as an attentive center of influence. When he’s not beating the streets for Certified CIO, you can find Chris collecting pom-knit hats, vinyl records and bottles of bourbon. He’s also an avid sports fan and social sports “athlete” playing bocce, softball and kickball regularly.
Help Desk EngineerAs a HelpDesk Engineer, Eric works directly with Certified CIO clients addressing day-to-day IT issues with great skill. Previously, Eric worked with as a Level 2 Engineer at a MSP that services automotive dealerships. He began his career in IT working for Oracle|micros assisting hospitality businesses utilize their software effectively. Eric graduated from Salisbury University in 2013 with a degree in Information Systems and lives Baltimore City.
Help Desk Engineer / ProgrammerMike owns a dual role for Certified CIO as a HelpDesk Engineer and in-house coder. He started programming in the late 80’s beginning with QBASIC and keeps up-to-date with current program technologies, specializing in .NET applications. Mike started his IT career in 1998 with a MSP based in Beltsville, MD working with large corporations, small and mid-size businesses and even individual house calls.
Service CoordinatorRae served as the Receiving Coordinator of an environmental chemistry lab in Catonsville for over 12 years and is the newest member of Certified CIO. Her experience smoothly running a busy lab with highly technical staff made her the perfect fit to help manage workflow. Rae is also the Groups and Events Coordinator and Stage Manager at The Nevermore Haunt, a historically themed haunted house at the Old Town Mall in downtown Baltimore.
NOC Engineer / Engineer II / Web DesignShaun’s duties at Certified CIO include testing and implementing new tools, creating automation workflow, designing websites, and optimizing the Certified CIO CSPS toolset. Shaun draws on his 15 years’ in the IT field to enhance the end user experience when working with Certified CIO. Shaun’s passion for discovering the latest and greatest technology steers the Certified CIO ship on a regular basis.
